Ash and Aegis

Ash and Aegis

Irradiated apocalypse roams, seldom finding living bones. Weary, a wizard travels, dust blooms to flora in his wake.

#

Earth’s surface burned instantly. Rampant. Unrelenting. Chaotic destruction. Insatiable appetite of nuclear arsenals devoured existence. Across the globe within the maelstrom stood gifted few, once hidden, now revealed with no witness.

#

I scream as hellfire incinerates my business suit, warded cloth resisting mere seconds. Glowing second skin tightens. Heat gnaws through Aegis; pain blisters. Centuries-honed reflexes command my staff to manifest, driven into stone.
“Uru-Anatu!” I cry.
Inferno claws woven shell. I kneel within, undone by despair.

#

        You will rebuild, chasing echoes.
